The 42nd annual Jazz Festival will be held on February 6-7, 2025, at the Challey School of Music! High school and junior high groups perform at this non-competitive festival and receive comments and coaching from professional jazz artists and educators. Each guest artist will hold jazz clinics throughout the day and perform with the NDSU Jazz Ensemble in concert at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Clinics are free and open to the public. Admission for the concerts is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors, and free for NDSU students with ID!

Monty Cole – saxophone, Mercer University
Tim Farrell – trumpet, University of Nebraska Kearney
Sam Kestenholtz – drums, Grammy-nominated musician known as “Slammin’ Sammy K”

How to Apply for a Music Scholarship

In addition to the Challey Scholarship Fund, a number of other scholarships are available to music students. One completed application form is sufficient for consideration for all departmental and Challey scholarships.
