Jazz Festival

$5 for Adults, $2 Seniors, Free for NDSU Students with ID

The 42nd annual Jazz Festival will be held on February 6-7, 2025, at the Challey School of Music. High school and junior high groups perform at this non-competitive festival, and work receive comments and coaching from professional jazz artists and educators. Each guest artist will hold jazz clinics throughout the day, and be featured with the NDSU Jazz Ensemble in concert at 5:30 p.m. each day.

The festival culminates in a high-powered concert featuring our world-class guest artists in performance with the NDSU Jazz Ensembles.

CLINICIANS

Monty Cole – saxophone, Mercer University

Tim Farrell – trumpet, University of Nebraska Kearney

Sam Kestenholtz – drums, Grammy-nominated freelance musician known as “Slammin’ Sammy K”

Festival Information:

1. Registration for each group: Registration Form

2. $250 fee per ensemble

3. Each ensemble will receive a total of 30 minutes performance and clinic time. This will include recorded comments from clinicians, and also an in person on stage clinic with at least one guest artist.

4. Bands will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis after registration fee is received.
