NDSU Opera
NDSU Opera presents fully staged and costumed performances of operas with orchestra in Festival Concert Hall every spring. Recent productions have included HMS Pinafore (Gilbert and Sullivan), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten), and Gianni Schicchi (Puccini). NDSU Opera also presents operas such as Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) and Venus and Adonis (Blow) at the NDSU Baroque Festival.
NDSU Opera Workshop presents staged and costumed scenes from operas with piano accompaniment in Beckwith Recital Hall.
Roles in NDSU Opera Theatre and Opera Workshop are assigned based on open auditions. NDSU Opera roles are typically filled by NDSU music graduate and undergraduate students.

Next on Stage: The Pirates of Penzance
Set sail with NDSU Opera’s swashbuckling production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic comedy “The Pirates of Penzance,” a hilarious farce of dimwitted young lovers, sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, and THE very model of a modern Major-General! Performances are held February 13 – 16, 2025, in NDSU Festival Concert Hall.
